Survival has always been an uphill battle. Families here relied on small, often unpredictable harvests to sustain themselves, leaving little room to fulfill even basic needs. Nutritious food, warm clothing, and everyday necessities remained a luxury, and sharing varied meals or providing children with suitable clothing was a rarity. Many households barely scraped by, and when times grew tough, some villagers had no choice but to travel to distant districts for labor work, driven by sheer necessity. In 2023, Outreach India facilitated to the community people to tackle the insufficient source of income issue. The villagers, alongside Outreach India and HDF, organized meetings to develop a sustainable proposal, which they submitted to Outreach International for funding. This proposal’s success marked a pivotal moment: upon approval, the funds allowed Kuakhal’s people to purchase 55 goats, distributed to 11 families eager to embark on this new endeavor. Over time, these families will reinvest the returns into the village, expanding the project’s reach to others in need.
These goats represent more than livestock; they signify a steady income source, stability, and an opportunity to build a better future. The impact of the project goes beyond economic improvement—it has fostered a deepened sense of unity within the community as families support one another in managing their goats. Additionally, the goat manure has enhanced local crop production, further benefiting farmers.
Through the goat-raising project, Outreach India has empowered Kuakhal’s people to escape the cycle of poverty. This initiative is a testament to how a simple idea can spark lasting change, cultivating self-sufficiency and elevating the quality of life for families throughout the village.
